This Privacy Policy describes how Oculta App ("Oculta", "we") handles data from users of the Oculta macOS application and the oculta.app website.
The data controller is FLOWER EXECUTION LIMITED, Flat A 15/F Hiller Commercial Building, 65–67 Bonham Strand East, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. For inquiries: privacy@oculta.app.
Section A: macOS application distributed via the Mac App Store
This section applies if you downloaded Oculta from the Mac App Store.
1. No accounts, no telemetry
Oculta does not require registration or an account. We do not request or collect names, email addresses, passwords, or personal identifiers.
The application contains no analytics SDKs, no third-party crash reporters, and no advertising trackers.
The application makes no network connections to servers controlled by Oculta.
2. Locally stored data
Your notes, presentations, settings, and autosaves are stored exclusively inside the application's sandbox container at
~/Library/Containers/com.oculta.app/.Only you have access to these files. Oculta cannot read, copy, or transmit them.
3. Speech recognition
Oculta uses Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer framework to highlight words as you read aloud.
Depending on the language and macOS version, audio may be processed on-device or sent to Apple's servers for transcription. Apple manages this processing under its own privacy policy.
Oculta does not receive, store, or transmit audio captured from the microphone.
Microphone and speech recognition access is enabled only with your explicit permission.
4. In-app purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases in the Mac App Store version are processed by Apple via StoreKit.
Oculta only receives the transaction status (verified / unverified) and the product identifier. We do not receive card numbers, banking information, or billing details.
To manage or cancel a subscription, use System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
5. System permissions
The application may request the following macOS permissions, only when needed for a feature:
Microphone — to capture your voice while reading.
Speech recognition — to transcribe what you say.
User-selected files — to import presentations (.pptx, .key, .pdf) that you open.
You can revoke these permissions at any time from System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Section B — oculta.app website and direct purchases (outside the Mac App Store)
This section applies if you visit oculta.app or purchase a direct license outside the Mac App Store.
6. Website data
When you visit oculta.app we may collect limited technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for the purpose of operating and protecting the site. We may use functional cookies and, where applicable, aggregated and anonymized web analytics tools.
7. Direct purchases via Paddle
Purchases made outside the Mac App Store are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), which acts as Merchant of Record.
Paddle handles billing, invoicing, taxes, and refunds. Oculta does not store or have access to credit card data.
Oculta only receives the information necessary to activate your license: payment status and transaction identifier.

8. Communications
If you contact us by email or a form, we will use that information only to respond to your inquiry. We will not subscribe you to marketing lists without your explicit consent.
General provisions
9. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell or rent personal data. We may share information with providers strictly necessary to operate the service (site hosting, Paddle for direct payments, Apple for App Store purchases), under contractual confidentiality obligations.
10. Retention
Application data: never leaves your device unless you manually export it.
Transaction data: retained for the time required by legal and tax obligations (typically 7 years).
Support communications: retained for the time needed to resolve your inquiry and a reasonable period thereafter.
11. User rights
Under GDPR and other applicable laws, you have the right to:
Access your personal data
Rectification of inaccurate data
Erasure ("right to be forgotten")
Restriction of processing
Objection to processing
Data portability
Withdraw consent at any time

12. California users (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, request its deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information. Contact: privacy@oculta.app.
13. International transfers
Data may be processed in jurisdictions other than yours (Hong Kong, EU, USA) by our technology providers. We apply standard contractual clauses and other legal safeguards to ensure an adequate level of protection.
14. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data: encryption in transit, internal access control, and data minimization by design.
15. Minors
Oculta is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us to remove it.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will publish the new version on this page and indicate the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will notify you through available means.
